About Me & Why This Site Exists

Hi, I’m Cyndi — though around here I go by Barefoot Boss.
I want you to know right off the bat: I’m not sitting on a pile of money running some big operation. I work 40+ hours a week at a small mom & pop law firm just to keep the lights on. This project isn’t backed by corporate sponsors or endless resources. It’s me — a survivor — showing up, piece by piece, to build something that matters.
Within just two years, I lost a 14-year-old child, my husband, and my younger brother to suicide. Each loss ripped my world wide open. I honestly thought those suicides were going to kill me too. Suicide is contagious, and there were days I truly didn’t believe I’d survive it. The fact that I’m still here sometimes surprises me.
On top of grief came silence — no calls, no cards, no real acknowledgment. I also dealt with harassment. I tried to hide my self away at times. I just didn't care. That silence almost broke me as much as the deaths themselves.
I created Still Here because I know what it feels like to be left behind. To live with a shattered heart. To feel judged, invisible, or completely alone in your pain. This space exists so none of us have to walk that path by ourselves. It’s raw. It’s real. It’s private and sacred. And it’s built for the ones who aren’t okay — but who want to be and aren’t giving up.
If you’re reading this, know you’ve found someone who gets it. You matter here. You belong here. And as long as I’m still standing, you’ll have a place to land.

Building Still Here is about more than a website — it’s about creating a safe, private, and lasting home for suicide loss survivors.
